What is a telescopic boom lift used for?

Telescopic boom lifts are used for projects that require extended reach, either horizontally or vertically, up to about 180 feet. Suitable for rough terrain, these lifts are used across a variety of construction sites, both where the lift needs to be moved frequently and where it will be kept stationary for use from a distance. The extended arm can help move supplies and people to far-reaching areas. Some examples include lifting workers to an elevated height to change street lights, transporting materials to a building's roof, reaching upper-level warehouse shelves, and cleaning the outside windows of a tall building.

What are the standard telescopic boom lift sizes?

Telescopic boom lifts for sale come in a range of sizes. Platform height ranges from 40 to 150 feet, while capacity ranges from 600 to 1,000 pounds. Their maximum horizontal reach is 30 to 90 feet. The machine width and length range from 6 feet wide by 27 feet long to 16 feet wide by 53 feet long. Lastly, their reach below ground ranges from 2 feet to 20 feet.

What are the key advantages of using a telescopic boom lift?

While standard articulating boom lifts typically reach a maximum of about 125 feet, telescopic boom lifts have a greater range. Their platforms allow users to reach heights of up to 180 feet quickly and safely. Their height advantage offers greater flexibility when using a boom lift for a variety of projects at varying heights and horizontal distances in open spaces. Their reach doesn't come at the cost of stability. Telescopic boom lifts can also carry heavier loads than similar machines. They retain their stability even when extended to maximum reach. In addition to reach and stability, telescopic boom lifts can be operated with great precision.

What is the difference between a telescopic lift and a standard boom lift?

Due to their height advantage, telescopic boom lifts have less maneuverability than standard boom lifts. Where an articulating boom lift is attached to a rotating base, with bendable arms, telescopic boom lifts have a single arm focused solely on reach. Professionals can use articulating boom lifts to reach around corners, but a telescopic boom lift can only reach in a straight path. Because they are harder to maneuver in tight spaces, telescopic boom lifts are the ideal choice for projects in open spaces at greater heights or horizontal distances than a standard boom lift can reach.

Are there other names for a telescopic boom lift?

Telescopic boom lifts are named for the way the smaller sections use hydraulic power to extend out of the boom like a telescope. While that is the most common name, when searching for a telescopic boom lift for sale, they are also sometimes called straight booms or stick booms.
